We went up the trail and stopped where we hung the hang on up and found that someone came over and stole the moultree cam we had there. It's the cam we caught the buck on last week, too. So we lost all the pics that would have been taken since last Sunday. About 10 days worth of photos. We all was a bit irritated. Then I went to get my iPhone so I could take update pics of the salt lick on the trail and realized I dropped my phone out of my pocket too. So Willie went to go find it while me, Joni, and nick went to check area 1 to see if the camera there was stolen too.
So we was trying to figure out what to do. We think it might be the people that own the property next to our hunting areas. We have about 100 acres to hunt on. Over 50 of those acres belongs to willies grandma and the other 50ish acres joins it is own by a guy we know. Area 1 is on his grandmas land while area 2 & 3 are on the other guys land. Well we decided to stop by the guys house to let him know that someone else was cruising around on his land and had stolen the camera. We thought we would be polite because I would want to know if someone was creeping around on my property. So after we alerted him we decided we was gonna scout the rest of the acres and see what we see. We have some pics of deer but not as many as last year.
We get down there and we unload the two 4 wheelers and the odyssey. Willie goes flying off in the odyssey and starts making paths. We came across two heavily used areas where we seen some huge tracks! I'm completely hoping it's that 10 point I shot at last year. We know that he originally came from that side. On this side there is a large cornfield and we hunted it some last year but when it rains a lot it floods easily.
So after we scouted it out and we figured out we will move the cams over to that side. It's in the middle of his grandmas property and the only people that is next to it is the other guys property we hunt. We think the equipment will be safer there. So tomorrow we will be going out and removing the stands and the feeder in area 3 to move to the new areas. Area 3 has had the least amount of activity for the deer so far and the deer will not miss the feeder. We decided that if our equipment was in danger that we will go to the other property to hunt with blinds and climbers. That way they can't get no free gear from us lol.
After we decided where we was throwing the stands up we all took turns on the odyssey. I'm one of those people who hasn't done much. I'm extremely pale and I am an attractant to any type of stinging and biting bugs. So every time I go out I end up looking like a lobster with 50 million swollen mosquito bites. Yeah I'm allergic to them and bees lol. So as I grew up the whole outdoors stuff wasn't for me. This year though I invested in zinc oxide SPF 50 to prevent the sunburns and an all natural bug repellant. Now even though I have done this I have still been burnt once, a caterpillar stung my entire back, and a yellow jacket attacked me on Sunday! Which has been better than any other year so far. Plus I realized after I claimed I didn't like hunting and I would go just to shut my husband up.. Then I liked it. That just maybe even though I'm 30 now I don't really know what I like. I never tried anything that really involved the outdoors. So here I am playing in mud, going fast, shooting rifles and shot guns, bows, and camping. I'll try it at least once so I'll know for sure if I don't truly like it. The old saying keeps coming back to me... "don't knock it until you try it"!
