Surprise Surprise!

So yesterday we took the feeder we built out to area 1. I was so excited! I watched the guys fill up the mammoth barrel with corn and when the set it up we only got a little burst from it! We got this motor from Wal-mart. We live in a small town and our choices here are slim. If we want any big name brand it'll have to be ordered online. We found regular tri-pod feeders at Wal-mart but when we went to get one they was sold out. So we decided to build one. Well we went to take the dang motor back and they was out of them until Thursday! Now I was really frustrated. We are trying our best to get the areas ready so we can back out and let nature take it's course. The sooner we can do that the sooner those big Ohio bucks will be getting their pics takin. We know we have some nice big bucks in their from last year and they are mostly over 5 years old! I actually got to shoot at one. Now that's excitement! So we got to thinking that maybe it wasn't the motor at all. So while the guys are at work they tried another battery and to our surprise it's the dang battery! Our Wal-mart offers two batteries for us. We bought the same battery we have for our other manufactured feeder but for whatever reason it doesn't have enough umph to propel it! So our other option for batteries is the rechargeable ones. We are not sure yet how well they do but we will try it. We may need to go online and order a different brand completely. Which sucks because that's longer that the area will be doing with out one. I don't remember if I talked about this article I read about baiting your areas with nothing but minerals and salt to keep the coons from being on your trail cams. Well let me tell you something about the theory! Although it does work to draw deer to your area they don't hit it like they will with a feeder. Area 1 was flooded with deer last year. We know the population is high in this 100+ acres we are hunting. With just the minerals alone we have seen 1 doe... Now some of it could be from where we are going out 3+ days a week to work on it too. We set up area 3 last week and we have one pic of a doe and the mineral lick has a 3 inch hole dug already! Now that makes me excited! I need that feeder up and running soon:) So next week hopefully it will not be raining and we can get out there to do the batteries and drag area 4 so we can put the stands up. I'm so anxious to get it done so deer season and hurry up and get here!! Although I'm not completely ready lol. Last year I ordered some clothes and I hated them! The t-shirt was made all wrong and so was the pants. Sorry to tell all those manufactures for womens hunting gear.. Mom pants have been out for years and I don't want to hunt in them. So I've been doing research like crazy so I can be comfortable this fall. I'm scare to go just ordering because womens gear is expensive compared to mens! I found a site that sells pants for my hubby for $7.99. Great deal for him. Ok so I went to the womens section and they had pink army camo.. Wait for it.. Skirts!! Yeah skirts. Now I hunt with several men. Of course there's my hubby Willie and our friend nick but we have several other guys that comes and hunts with us too. I don't need them "hunting" for peeks at my panties lol. Plus have you ever tried to cut through the woods in a skirt? The briars and stuff will tear you up. I have learned the hard way too. I was the one that would go out in shorts and flip flops. It's terrible and more uncomfortable that way. Much better to wear pants and a tank. So that's what I'm looking for. Now I would love to find some of that realtree pink camo clothes:) I would wear those out to work in and even blind hunt in it. But nope nobody hardly makes stuff in it. Which is frustrating. I've already made two pairs of pants for hunting maybe I'll make me some when I get the time lol. I think I could take a deer in pink. Plus my hubby offered to plant me some pink stuff to hide in. He use to be a landscaper and he knows the plants that will bloom in pink during deer season. Wouldn't that just be awesome? Now you know why he is great! He will find some way for me to do what I want even if he has to plant flower to let me hunt in pink! If We ever do decide to do this we will have to film it and take loads of pics. It'll be one of those stories nobody would ever believe.
