Putting up the stands, feeders, and camera's

Salt lick

So two days ago Willie and Nick went out and started clearing out our hunting spot! They took the 4-wheeler's and cleared the old path's where we hunted last year and made some new one's for us to put down more stands. We had 3 stands, a hang on, and they used climber's last year and this year we are doing at least 5 stands, hang on, and climbers in this area. So on the way to "The Point" we had a salt block laid out for the deer, well all that's left now is this 4-6in deep whole where they dug out every piece of salt. Now it's just whole filled with water from yesterdays T-storms! I was amazed with how much destruction the deer has done to the area lol.

Once we got up to the point we seen where the deer has dug out where we laid the Black Magic out last year. It was an area about 3 feet wide and they pawed and chewed everything until there was nothing left. We could see hoof prints even after yesterdays rain, so they are still coming back to the spot! Nick laid down another bottle of Black magic to freshen the spot up and to insure they'll keep coming back for more! We need to insure we keep those deer coming so that we can walk out with some trophy racks! I can already feel the anticipation for my first kill already=) It'll be a great season

Me working Hard!
Of course, while Nick is pouring the Black Magic and Willie is setting the ladder up to set up the tree stand, I am setting down directing and insuring that everything is done up to my standards lol. I don't do much out there. I don't do the nasty clean up every year, nor do I fill up the feeders, or lay out blocks. I go and watch the guys do it all. I do however climb my stands and make sure that I like how sturdy they are and locations.

Willie and Nick putting the 2 man up
After we get the Food block and Black magic poured the guys started on putting up the stand. Now while they are doing this I'm driving the 4-wheeler around checking the area out... or just entertaining myself while they are busy haha. This guys are great for doing all the work for me and Nick's wife to be able to come out here and hunt. I always say that I'm a deer goddess! The deer just flock to me. My husband says, of course honey, It can't be the factor of them scouting, feeding, and him working hard on the area to insure that the deer come in there. I still say it's because I'm a deer Goddess!
Me climbing my way up to test my stand
So they get my stand up and of course I can't help it but I monkey up the tree to give it a try. I climbed the ladder and sat down... Then bam! I got the burning itch to hunt. I so want this season to hurry up and get started. Seriously! Why do they put a time limit on this? I could be out there tomorrow pulling deer in and getting me "On TV Big Buck". I didn't get a deer last year since it was my first year. I originally started with no bow, I was using my sons. Then I finally bought my bow and I had issues with the sight. I guess the brand I bought was crap and It couldn't be sighted in well. I was so irritated! I refused to gun hunt, so I didn't even get one during Gun Season. This year though, I have my eye on a Pink Camouflage 20 gauge! I'm so excited that I got over my fear of guns. Now it was a fear of me never using them and didn't really know how too. I have shot guns in the past here and there but was never really comfortable with them. Now I have a 30-06 and I learned how to use it in the last few months. I realized it's only scary when you don't know what you are doing but once you shoot a couple of boxes of ammo through it and learn how to work it from top to bottom, It's easy! So now I'm eye fucking this 20 gauge I seen and I'm seriously going to get it soon for
You think the deer will see me?
So anyway, I sat in my tree stand and got the itch and I didn't want to come down. I have the stand in a great place this year and have the feeder and blocks in a great location to the stand. It's like Paradise for Hunters!

2nd area has 4 inches of water
We went to area 2 to set up another one man stand there. This one is a bit smaller and further down in the thick around the river. We have a 4 wheeler trail to it but with all this rain we was afraid they wouldn't be able to get up the soupy mud. As we was walking down to the area the area started getting muddier as we went until I had to step off the path because it had 1 inch of water in it. So we finally get down there and we see a white butt running away! See I knew this year was going to be rocking! The feeders have been set up for 2 days and we are already catching deer down there. I wish we had the cameras going to find out exactly how many are coming in this area now. Of course, they wasn't because that is why we was there today lol. we didn't get to do much but move the feeder since it was standing in 4 inches of water. The pour deer was trying to drown itself to get to the corn. So we had to pull it toward where I was standing taking the picture. We was lucky enough to have that area that was higher up to set the feeder to allow the deer to actually not have to play bobbin for corn. Now you know that's some hardcore deer!

On our way out we looked out area 3. It's a much larger section and we are going to put up around 3-4 stands in this section. As we approached this area you could see the water standing from our path. It had small lakes in it! So we decided to hold off on this section until it drys out again. So now we will have to go back out and finish Area 2 and 3. Then we will start on the second property getting the path's cut, stands, feeders, and etc.
