Day 2 of Spring Turkey Hunting 2011

This morning we got up to get the kids on the bus and get ready to go hunting and this is what we seen!! Dark and raining=( I went and did some research and found out that the thunder and rain could actually help us out with turkey hunting so we decided we would go ahead and give it a try.

We called our friend to go with us and the three of us (me, Willie, and Nick) all jumped in the truck to try a third place for the season. Since we didn't have any luck yesterday at the previous two we didn't want to go there again and find nothing again. So we tried different spots in this 3rd location. The wood's cover's miles so we ran from spot to spot trying to call to see if anything was near. We finally got  a gobble an hour before hunting was over!
Unfortunately, the sound was too far away and was over another ridge so we tried to get closer. So over all between the rain, thunder, and I guess bad luck we ended up with the only thing shot yet again for today was pictures! Hey maybe I should go into photography since that's all I've been doing lately! I bet i'd see more deer and turkey's that way or maybe i'll just stick to those butterballs. They aren't hard to find and they are already plucked for me=) I seriously hope the rest of you that is turkey hunting is having better luck than we are here in Ohio. This spring weather is killing us, between the raining, flooding, and the cold weather we will all be packing it in. When the season changes in two weeks where we can hunt until sunset maybe we can get them moving better, well if the rain stops so the flood water can recede that is. Good luck to all you turkey hunters!
